The family wanted the evening to feel like her dining room, only longer. We started with oatmeal linen, because it works in warm light, and layered brass candlesticks of two heights down the middle of the table.
A row of gold bud vases held white ranunculus and sweet pea from the market, one per two guests. At the door, an oak easel held a board of photos from every decade. It became the first conversation of the night.
